About Highline
Our Story
Highline Arborists was founded in 2011 by Eliot Marsh, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist who moved to Savannah and fell in love with the city's live oaks.
After a decade of commercial tree work in the Pacific Northwest — old-growth Douglas fir, sitka spruce, hazard trees in national forests — Savannah's ancient live oaks felt like coming home to a different kind of cathedral. The draped canopies, the Spanish moss, the way the oaks hold the squares together like living architecture — Marsh knew this was where he'd build something lasting.
Highline started as a one-climber consulting practice, assessing the health of historic trees in Savannah's squares. The work grew — pruning, removals, plantings, storm response after the hurricanes that test the coast's canopy every season.
Today the team is twelve: four ISA-certified arborists, two crane operators, and a crew that can climb anything, rig anything, and — most importantly — knows when to leave a tree alone.
Still based in Savannah. Still in love with the live oaks.

The Arborist's Creed
Preservation First
We always ask: can this tree be saved? Removal is a last resort. Our job is to help trees thrive, not to cut them down.
Every Cut Counts
There are no casual cuts in arboriculture. Every pruning decision affects the tree's structure, health, and future. We make each one with intention and understanding.
The Long View
A tree planted today may shade this property for two hundred years. We think in decades, not seasons. Our work is measured in canopy coverage fifty years from now.

The Team
Twelve People Who Understand Trees
Four ISA-certified arborists. Two crane operators. Six climbers and ground crew. Every one of them trained, experienced, and driven by the same principle: the best tree work is the work nobody notices.
We don't hire for chainsaws. We hire for judgment. The ability to read a tree's structure, predict where a limb will fall, and know when to stop cutting — that's what separates arborists from tree cutters.
